Woolly Mammoth Tooth Slice (Polished)
A polished slice of Woolly Mammoth tooth, dating from the Pleistocene. This is a decent quality piece, showing a ‘rough’ and ‘polished’ side.
Woolly Mammoth Tooth Slice (Polished)
This is a polished Woolly Mammoth tooth slice, showing both the 'rough' tooth side, and a polished internal side from inside the molar itself. It's absolutely something we don't sell every day.
The piece you see in the photos is the piece you'll receive - this is not a 'random grab' like most of our lower priced items.
The slice measures approximately 230x67x48MM deep at its largest points. It does have some scuffs, and a fair amount of cracks - one particularly large one can be clearly seen in the photographs. However, the specimen is stable and should not crack any further if kept in decent conditions. There is also a repair which has been glued back together.
This tooth slice also has a hole drilled through the end, for reasons I'm entirely unsure of.
I personally think this would make a decent teaching piece, alongside a more complete and natural Mammoth tooth. However - it would be equally at home in a museum, a collection, or a display cabinet.
