Snowflake Obsidian Specimens

Rough specimen pieces of Snowflake Obsidian, perfect for collectors or rock tumblers.

This dark volcanic glass has small grey spots which may look almost like snowflakes. The spots are small radial clusters of pale grey Cristobalite.

Obsidian itself is a relatively common volcanic glass, and is typically sold cut and polished, rather than rough. These pieces are intended for mineral collectors, and can be displayed alongside the carved or polished pieces.

Obsidian can be very sharp - to the extent that it has been tested for certain types of specialist scalpels.
As these are rough pieces, which are sold 'as found', they may have sharp edges! Be careful when handling, and especially careful if a piece is dropped or you intend to do some knapping.
