Plesiosaur Vertebrae on matrix
Nice quality fossil specimens - Plesiosaur vertebrae from the UK, very well preserved, on their original host rock.
One important thing that often confuses new purchasers - Plesiosaurs were not dinosaurs! They were aquatic reptiles, which looked a little like modern-day Porpoises.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - Lyme Regis, Jurassic Coast, UK - 90x80x42MM including matrix, the vertebrae measures 47x30.5MM approximately. A very nice specimen, some dents and scratches on the vertebrae before it was fossilised indicates predation. There are several small fragments of other fossils in the matrix, including what looks like an Ammonite fragment and a piece of shell.
