Boulder Opal Cabochons
Opal is a truly classic gemstone, and makes gorgeous jewellery.
A solid Opal cabochon is typically seen as more of an investment than a doublet or triplet cabochon, but honestly, it all depends on the size and grade.
These are all Boulder Opal, as in a vein of Opal running through a matrix stone. They come from Australia, usually Queensland. These would be considered lower end stones, as Opals go – hence the affordable pricing.
These pieces are perfect for rings and pendants. It is hard to match them for earrings.
The pictures you see here are exactly what you will receive – each cabochon is one of a kind.
There are two for sale currently, both freeforms:
– 13.5 x 9.84MM at 5.5 carats, with a reasonable amount of green flash.
– 15.25 x 10.3MM at 9.5 carats, which has one nice stripe of blue flash but not much else
