Mother of Pearl cabochons
Mother of Pearl cabochons give any piece of jewellery a classic look. They are a pearlescent white, although we do have a small amount of stock in a pale pink, gold, and grey colour.
I'm finding a lot of jewellers buying these to actually repair older pieces of jewellery, rather than create new ones - perhaps they are coming back into vogue.
We currently sell these cabochons in oval and round - a few different sizes. Please bear in mind, these are shell cabochons - they are brittle!
Take care when setting, or glue them in. They are also thin, and undomed - due to the nature of the material they are cut from.

I wanted some mother of pearl cabochons to decorate a leather Dungeons & Dragons dice case that I was making for friends. Well, I actually wanted moonstone but it was a little out of my price range. I’ve never seen a real moonstone, so can’t comment on the difference.
I got four 14mm x 10mm cabochons in the normal white mother of pearl. All identical, with a very attractive soft milky sheen. These cabochons were almost flat – not as domed as the usual cabochons I’ve had from AF&I. This was not a problem for my project.
The mother of pearl stands out very well against the waxy dark purple leather I used. A lovely combination.
