Ludwigite is a magnesium-iron borate mineral, typically occurring as dark green to pitch black fibrous growths or needle-like crystals, although it can also occur as a massive formation or as needle and spray inclusions in peridot.

These specimens come from the Toron Mines of Catalonia, a well known locale for collectors of Spanish minerals.
