Fluorite from Cave-In-Rock, Illinois, USA
High quality cabinet sized specimens of purple cubic Fluorite from the world famous Cave-in-Rock area of Hardin County, Illinois, USA.
This area produces excellent quality specimens of Fluorite you can see in many fine mineral collections.
While there is some edge damage to some crystals, they are largely in good condition. The intricate cubic growths look almost alien; this seems more like an artefact from science fiction than a natural mineral.
Our current stock includes:
#1 - 100x100x60MM, 1140 grams
It measures 100x100x60MM approximately and weighs 1140 grams. It is a dark purple, and would ideally be displayed with a backlight or on top of a light to get the most of its colour. I have shown three photos of it lit purely by an LED mobile phone torch for your reference.
The underneath is a lighter lilac purple and contains a fluorescent mineral, possibly Calcite.
#2 - 170x130x80MM,1205 grams
This is a gorgeous piece measuring 170x130x80MM approximately, and weighing 1205 grams. It is a dark purple, but its true best shows under UV - this specimen has a huge amount of petroleum inclusions under the surface. Under UV light these inclusions glow a gold-yellow colour, making it a fantastic display piece.
