Fossilised Crinoid deathbeds from Alabama, USA
Fossilised crinoid deathbeds from Russellville, Alabama, USA.
These pieces contain a range of fossils, including bryozoans, corals, crinoid fragments, and bivalves - some of them are really rather well preserved and contain a good variety of fossils; others are less well preserved.
Our current stocks include:
- #1 - 48.5x31x15.5MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx, stem and arms. Unfortunately, it does have a large crack running horizontally through the specimen. It can likely be preserved with paraloid or similar, or you might wish to risk splitting it to look for further fossils.
- #2 - 67x52.6x18.5MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx, stem and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains.
- #3 - 58x34x11.1MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx, stem and arms.
- #4 - 85.6x37x22MM - a specimen with either two or three partial Crinoid calyxs, stems and arms.
- #5 - 63x50x11.3MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx, stem and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains.
- #6 - 70.3x50.5x20.5MM - very well defined Crinoid arms, possibly with a little bit of the calyx too. The reverse side is covered with fine detailed fossils.
- #7 - 51x37.8x22MM - reasonably well defined Crinoid arms, possibly with a little bit of the calyx too. The reverse side is covered with fine detailed fossils.
- #8 - 68x66.5x17MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains.
- #9 - 32.5x23.5x9.5MM - an unfortunately weathered specimen which is probably a small calyx, stem and arms.
- #10 - 38.7x31.5x15MM - another weathered specimen with a partial calyx and arms.
- #11 - 42x27.5x21MM - another weathered specimen with a partial calyx and arms. The rear has some impressions of bivalves.
- #12 - 147.5x77.8x15MM - a larger specimen with two partial crinoids, which are mostly arms and possibly a little partial calyx.
- #13 - 60x55x15.5MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains.
- #14 - 51x44.7x18.1MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx and arms. Interestingly there appears to be almost 'hairs' or 'spikes' on parts of this fossil.
- #15 - 68.7x57.2x21.5MM - a specimen with two partial crinoids, which are mostly arms and possibly a little partial calyx.
- #16 - 57.3x31.6x20.3MM - a partial Crinoid calyx, stem and arms.
- #17 - 51.3x48.4x20.5MM - a nice specimen with either one or two partial Crinoid calyx and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains.
- #18 - 69.3x53.7x9.3MM - a nice specimen with a partial Crinoid calyx and arms, sitting on a tangled mess of bryozoans, corals, and other fossil remains. One of the visible pieces is really rather interesting - possibly something like a bryozoan helix/screw.
