Carminite from Deer Hills, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK
Small specimen of matrix with a crust of micro Carminite crystals from Deer Hills, an old lead working in the Caldbeck Fall area.
- #1 - The Carminite covers two small areas, and the crystals themselves definitely require magnification. They occur in and around an unidentified yellow-green mineral, likely beudantite or pyromorphite - unfortunately my microscope simply doesn't have the ability to get a decent closeup. For best results this piece will probably need to be cut or trimmed so the lens can get a little closer to the crystals - or perhaps your focal length is longer than mine!
- #2 - a few areas of interest but the best is the area with, again, an unidentified green mineral. Better closeups available on this piece for me.
