Carminite from Deer Hills, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

Small specimen of matrix with a crust of micro Carminite crystals from Deer Hills, an old lead working in the Caldbeck Fall area.

The Carminite covers two small areas, and the crystals themselves definitely require magnification. They occur in and around an unidentified yellow-green mineral, likely beudantite or pyromorphite - unfortunately my microscope simply doesn't have the ability to get a decent closeup.

For best results this piece will probably need to be cut or trimmed so the lens can get a little closer to the crystals - or perhaps your focal length is longer than mine!
