Blue John Mineral Specimens

Blue John is a unique form of Fluorite from the Derbyshire area, particularly the area around Castleton.

It is an extremely rare form of Fluorite and is only getting rarer - a very small amount comes to the market every year.

It is usually purple, sometimes purple and yellow - and often exhibits good cubic crystals.

Our current stock includes:

  • #1 - 11x10.1x4.6MM - a small thumbnail/micromount specimen with good crystallisation to one side.
  • #2 - 34.9x22.5x14.1MM - a small piece, one size has a vug filled with fine colour zoned cubes.
  • #3 - 36.7x26.7x22.9MM - a really rather nice small piece with vugs on multiple sides.
  • #4 - 113x111x92.7MM / 1.58KG - a quality small cabinet piece with distinct, well formed cubic crystals covering several of the faces.
  • #6 - 245x128x65MM - a very large piece weighing 2.75KG. The matrix rock is fossiliferous, and the top face is covered in a large number of purple Fluorite crystals. It has a largely flat base and will make an excellent cabinet piece.

  • Several low quality small specimens sold as random picks. Very good budget option for collectors who want their first piece of Blue John.
