Mindat lists 9 minerals from the site – calcite, cerussite, galena, greenockite, hemimorphite, hydrozincite, quartz, smithsonite, and sphalerite.

A number of shafts are listed by Mindat, and a few that weren’t listed:

  • Andrews Shaft
  • Bryn Heulwen Shaft
  • Burton’s Shaft
  • Busy Bee Shaft
  • Efferton Shaft
  • Grand Turk Shaft
  • Hafod Farm Shaft
  • Meadows Shaft
  • Reid’s Shaft
  • Royle’s Shaft
  • Speedwell’s Shaft
  • Taylor’s Shaft

Wikipedia actually states there are over 100 shafts, some of which we may just never know the names of!

The park covers 53 acres and contains a restored beam engine house and boiler houses, as well as ruined areas from the 18th and 19th century mine workings.

It appears that mining at the site started under the Minera Lead Mines name in 1845, and ended in around 1914. The first written evidence of lead mining dates to 1296, however, so it is likely mining sporadically occurred here for centuries.

Wikipedia has a better writeup of the site than I could hope to offer here; well worth a look.
