Bedford United Mine

Bedford United was one of the largest copper mines in Devon, worked between 1841 and 1890.

Bedford was an amalgamation of several smaller workings, including:

  • Delves Kitchen
  • Ding Dong
  • South Bedford
  • Wheal Marquis / Marquis lode
  • Wheal Tavistock

South Bedford later became part of the East Gunnislake and South Bedford Mine. 

It produced copper, tin, tungsten and arsenic, at various different times.
