Milltown Quarry

Milltown, Ashover, Derbyshire, UK

A former limestone quarry which is now used to house fluorspar slurry.

Mineralisation occured in a small area which is now unfortunately under toxic fluorspar slurry. It is unlikely any further minerals will be recovered from this site.

The quarry contained some fairly common minerals like fluorite and galena, some uncommon zinc minerals, but was also the type locality for several – ashoverite, sweetite, and two unnamed minerals of which this is likely the only known source.
