Wet Swine Gill

Coombe Height, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

A site discovered in 1981 – an antimony bearing quartz vein in hornfels.

The site is known for antimony minerals, primarily amongst micro mineral collectors.

It should be pointed out that collecting from the site is prohibited so any specimens from the site will be from older collections.

There are no signs of any historical workings on the site, which is somewhat unusual in this area. There are also some reasonably rare supergene minerals found at the site, including claudetite, scorodite, pharmacosiderite, beudantite, valentinite and parasymplesite.

Mindat lists 19 minerals from the site in total.
