Burdell Gill

Coombe Height, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

Exposure of a north-south vein of gossan, quartz, and iron and manganese oxides.

The site is primarily known for quality specimens of pharmacosiderites, along with some arsenates and phosphate minerals too. The pharmacosiderite from the site is an odd one – olive green.

The site is mostly of interest to micromineral collectors – micromounts and thumbnail sized specimens are about the biggest that are easy to find from this location.
