Brandy Gill Mine

Mungrisdale, Eden, Cumbria, England, UK

Brandy Gill Mine is a former lead mine in the well known ‘Caldbeck Fells’ mining region of Cumbria.

It produces a range of mineral specimens, including good examples of cerussite, mimetite, pyromorphite, etc

Mindat lists nearly 60 mineral species from the site in total.

I’m afraid I don’t know whether anything remains on the surface – in the late 80s and early 90s collectors and cavers were still making trips down the mine but whether the entrances have been sealed I don’t know.

There are a few accounts of walks on Caldbeck Fell which mention the mine briefly but with limited detail.
