Heights Mine is a former iron ore mine worked between 1850 and 1868.

The mine was accessed and worked for specimens, particularly of Fluorite, until the late 1970s. The underground workings were then sealed for public safety.

Heights Mine produced some excellent quality green fluorite, often twinned.

Heights Quarry, worked for limestone, may be slowly digging through some remnants of Heights Mine, so it is possible further specimens will be found – unfortunately, the campylite link below suggests access to the remains of the mine is extremely dangerous.
