Sphalerite specimens
Specimen pieces of Sphalerite, a zinc ore that often occurs in reasonably well defined crystalline formations.
Currently our stocks include:
- Various thumbnail specimen (20-30MM) from Nenthead, Alston, Cumbria. Randomly selected from our stock.
- Various micromount - thumbnail specimens from the USA - Biggsville, Illinois, USA and Monmouth, Illinois, USA. These are unfortunately mounted in foam, and come in a labelled 1" display box. I'm not a fan of the foam mounts personally but they are easy enough to remove if you wish.
- Various larger crystals from the Picos de Europa mountains in Spain - these are quite nice pieces with some rather gemmy areas that look great when backlit.
- Various small cabinet pieces from Weardale, UK - sometimes with a pink-red fluorescent calcite.
- A single specimen from Staunton Harold, Leicestershire. Ex Neil Hubbard, dated 1976. No further locality information was recorded unfortunately.
