Realgar from La Chazotte mine, La Talaudiere, Saint-Étienne, Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
Cool specimen this, a small specimen of realgar from the La Chazotte mine, France.
The glue mounting holding the specimen into the box had failed, and I have remounted this specimen with mineral tack.
While the specimen itself isn't the most interesting, the old box it comes in is - it is a paper/cardboard box in white and black cardboard, with handwritten info, similar to the style of boxes used by GG Rakestraw, but not necessarily his.
Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the identity of the collector who boxed this piece. It should be considered a small part of mineral collecting history, but with limited information it is not an 'important' part. I'd guesstimate this box is from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Comes boxed in a paper/cardboard box and this is, in turn, in one of our plastic boxes for protection.

Toxic mineral: Realgar contains Arsenic
