Rutilated and Smoky Quartz Obelisk carvings

Gorgeous little rutilated smoky Quartz obelisk carvings.

Obelisks? Bit of an unusual term, perhaps - but I prefer not to use 'points' for these pieces, as 'quartz points' are an existing, natural item, and I wouldn't want anyone to think these were naturally occurring in this form - while they are natural material, they have been cut and polished.

They are cut from pieces of smoky rutilated quartz, which is a brown-grey form of Quartz filled with silver, copper, or copper-gold Rutile crystals - a needle-like form of titanium dioxide. They may have some other inclusions too, particularly hematite. They have a flat base, which can be used to display them nicely.

The rough material used for these carvings came from Minas Gerais, Brazil.
