Manganite from Torr Works Quarry, Cranmore, Mendip, Somerset, England, UK
Micro specimen of Manganite from Torr Works Quarry, Somerset.
#1 - This specimen was part of Roger Harkers collection and has two of his labels glued to the perky box it comes mounted in. One had detached and has been stuck back on with a conservation grade tape.
The specimen is mounted with glue into the box. Ex. Roger Harker collection. There would have originally been a larger label on the back with more info and the Harker collection name, but this has been lost - as a result there are no labels bearing the Harker name; provenance is known by dozens of specimens from the same lot and the same labelling style.
Please note: this specimen is labelled as 'Merehead Quarry'; this is a name for the railway head at the quarry itself.
This is a small mineral specimen and I highly recommend magnification for viewing, ideally at least 10-20x.
