Fluorescent Lapis Lazuli Specimens
Blue Lapis Lazuli specimens from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, a mixture of a good strong blue colour with areas of grey calcite and pyrite.
These are brightly fluorescent under 365nm UV light. Some specimens are a bright orange, others are dotted with bright yellow - it depends on the specific makeup of the rock.
In some cases large phenocrysts are the fluorescent material, sometimes it is veins of calcite, etc.
