Small pieces of Whitby Jet with surface level fossil impressions, including worm traces, Ammonite impressions, bark, and leaves.
It is impossible to guarantee that the impressions are definitely caused by bark or a worm, but they are interesting study pieces.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 51.5x25x9.1MM - a piece of hard Jet with fossil imprints - wood grain, and possibly the circular imprint of a shell or ammonite.
Whitby Jet is a gemstone formed by wood decaying under specific conditions, around 182 million years ago.
We are glad to be able to offer a few sizes of these specimens, which have been hand collected from around the Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay area.
