Naturally Iridescent Hematite
Naturally iridescent Hematite specimens from Rio Marina, Isle D'Elba, Italy.
There is likely to be some confusion around the naming of these specimens, which is why I've chosen to use the term 'iridescent Hematite'.
They can also be known as Turgite or Rainbow Hematite; however, 'Turgite' is a mixture of Hematite and Goethite. Rainbow Hematite is often used to refer to aura coated pieces, or the synthetic magnetic Hematine/Hemalyke, which is not Hematite.
These specimens can be somewhat brittle, so handle with care. They come packed with silica gel for storage; I would recommend against keeping them in anywhere with high humidity.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 55x55x24MM approx - a nice piece covered with blue, gold, and purple. The colours are quite subtle except under direct light.
