Olivine var Forsterite from the Gusdal Olivine Pit, Åheim, Almklovdalen, Vanylven, Møre og Romsdal, Norway

Nice green specimens of Olivine var Forsterite/Peridot from the Gusdal Olivine Pit.

While these are not a gem grade and should not be considered the gem grade 'peridot', they are nice enough mineral specimens from an uncommon location - gem grade material from this area can be thousands per carat.

This material is not a gem grade, most of the pieces are opaque-translucent at best although their colouration is decent.

I have included the phrase peridot as the group generally is misunderstood by many.

Olivine is not a single mineral, which makes naming these specimens tricky; they are a member of the Olivine group but it is very difficult to distinguish between Fayalite and forsterite without lab analysis. Luckily, our friend Mindat suggests the majority of the material from the site is the magnesium rich Forsterite.
