Banded Flint Specimens
Banded Flint is a reasonably common 'pseudofossil', a material which is often confused with having a fossiliferous origin.
It is also sometimes known as striped Flint, and is naturally occurring with a geological origin - it is not fossil related, despite often resembling fragments of shells or trilobites.
It occurs worldwide, but for my money the nicest pieces I've ever seen come from Poland, where it is known as Krzemień pasiasty.
- #1 - 64x43x26.3MM - a nice blue-grey-black piece from Herne Bay, UK.
- #2 - 23.6x18x9MM - a pale brown piece from Herne Bay, UK.
