Cuprite from Boiling Well Mine, Upton Towans, Gwinear-Gwithian, Cornwall, England, UK
Micro specimen of cuprite on slag from Boiling Well Mine.
I am a little dubious about this locale, though. This piece is likely a piece of slag from a dump site somewhere in the vicinity of the former Boiling Well Mine, which was closed in the 1860s.
Unfortunately it came to me labelled only with a small printed label saying 'Cuprite, Boiling Well Mine'. This label was glued to a scruffy box and could not be removed, but it had no dates, names, or any other real provenance with it.
If this is an old specimen, unfortunately any old labels and the associated provenance is lost. The price reflects this.
Comes boxed with our ID label.
