Probably the best known minerals from Angus are the fine Agates that can be found here, with several agate collecting localities known.

Probably the best known Agate collecting locality in the area is Ardownie Quarry, which produces some fine agates similar in appearance to the well known grey and white banded ‘Botswana Agates’.
