Pim Hill Mine

Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, UK

A former copper mine, worked primarily in the 1800s.

Pim Hill Mine may also be known as Pymhill Mine, or Harmer Hill Mine.

It is primarily known for specimens of tiny black mottramite on matrix.

There is relatively little information on this site available online, although the Shropshire CMC website linked below has a report of a visit to the site with good diagrams of the small amount of accessible underground workings.

Mindat only lists three minerals from the site – asbolane, malachite, and mottramite. It is unclear whether specimens were collected from dumps or simply from much older collections.

It is worth noting however, that mindat suggests that Pim Hill Mine is potentially the type locality for Mottramite, even though the mineral is named after Mottram St. Andrew.
