Burgham Mine

Stiperstones, Shropshire, England

Burgham mine was a small mine and was apparently worked for lead ores between around 1880 and 1962. There seems to be limited information about it online.

It’s possible the mine has several names and I’ve missed one!

Mining was first recorded sometime between the 1860s and 1890s, and was still working into the 1950s.

The mine may sometimes be known as Burgam, Bcrgam, Burgham or Birgham.

There is a good writeup with a former miner at the site on the Doczz site below. ‘BURGAM : SHROPSHIRE’S LAST WORKING METAL MINE 1957-1963’.
