According to Mindat, the site has been worked since 1603, but it is important to note that the mines are of multiple periods, and exploited a range of materials.

There are likely sites here that have been exploited several times and potentially reworked multiple times for different materials – lead, fluorspar, baryte.

Even the mine dumps are likely to have been reworked several times, but these are probably where any specimens came from – however, given the sites protected status, it is likely any specimens come from older (pre 1970s) collectors.

For a good writeup of the site you can’t go wrong with the scheduled monument description linked below, which covers most of the remains left on the site, and many of the shafts etc.
