Bedford Consols

Gulworthy, West Devon, Devon, England, UK

Former tin, copper and arsenic mine on the east side of the Tamar.

I found the name of this one a little complex, as within a small distance are the Bedford Consols, Bedford United Mine, and Devon Great Consols.

As far as I can make out, Bedford Consols is a combination of two smaller mines – Wheal Tool and Wheal Gawton / Gawton Beam.

There is likely more information in the book ‘Mines of Dartmoor & the Tamar Valley’, but I haven’t bought a copy yet.

One of the more interesting minerals from the site in my opinion is the fine anatase crystals that can be found here.
