High Skears Mine
Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England, UK
A former lead mine worked from at least 1845, which produced a range of fluorite specimens.
I wasn’t able to find too much information on this site. It is at least somewhat accessible, or… was, recently – in 2021, two people were rescued from the mine underground.
High Skears Mine does correspond to another local mine, Low Skears Mine – which is also known as Skears Mine or Skears Firestone Mine.
The most commonly collected specimens from the site seem to be yellow fluorite, with very little else showing up online.
