Hannebacher Ley

Hannebach, Spessart, Brohltal, Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Hannebacher Ley is an overgrown quarry, east of Hannebach, famous amongst micromount collectors.

A former basalt quarry which dug through cavities of mineralisation, now completely overgrown. Whether it was backfilled or any access to the site remains, I do not know.

Mindat lists 28 minerals from the site, and it is the type locality for two – hannebachite and orschallite. It is probably best known for quality micro specimens of perovskite, as well as its two type locality minerals.

There is limited information on the site that I could find – it is possible the site has a German name that I’m just not aware of, unfortunately.
