Schwalenbach Mine

Kamberg, Hellenthal, Euskirchen, Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Abandoned lead mine near Kamberg, which closed in 1920.

Now part of a visitors attraction and mining museum.

The mine was connected underground with the Wohlfahrt mine, with which it now forms part of the mining museum, Grube Wohlfahrt.

While I do not read German, there is a book written about this mine which may be worth a look if you’re especially interested in the site!

Geschichtliche Entwicklung Grube Schwalbach: Grube Schwalbach und ihre geschichtliche Entwicklung sowie Heimatkundlicher Rückblick auf den Platz am alten Schacht

There is also a good translated article linked below on the Wisoveg website, which covers the histories of both the “Wohlfahrt” and “Schwalenbach” mines.
