Mundarara Mine
Longido District, Arusha Region, Tanzania
Mundara Mine is a Tanzanian mine famous for its mineral specimens, particularly of corundum (Ruby) in Zoisite and Pargasite.
Showing the single result
The mine is well known on the wider mineral market as a prolific source of ruby in zoisite, which is sometimes sold as ‘anyolite’.
The mine opened in the late 1980s, and has produced many tons of pinky-red corundum, typically surrounded by green Zoisite, and used for carvings and cabochons rather than faceted.
The rubies are arguably largely corundum, as they are not of a gem grade.
