Lampwork glass beads are handmade by glass artists using a technique where glass rods are melted in a flame (usually a small, very hot torch) and wound around a metal rod.
The glass can be shaped and decorated while hot, allowing for intricate patterns and vibrant colours.
As the bead cools, the rod is extracted, forming a bead.
This method has been used for centuries and remains popular among artisans for creating unique, decorative beads used in jewellery and craftwork. Each bead is individually made, so no two are ever exactly the same.
