La Revoltosa Mine
San Andrés, Magdalena Municipality, Jalisco, Mexico
A small open cast mine producing various Obsidian specimens.
Showing the single result
The mine is around 15km east of San Andreas, at around 2000 feet in elevation, on one of the tallest mountains in the area.
The site produces black, gold sheen, and rainbow Obsidians, the rainbow pieces being some of the best found worldwide – admittedly, of very few localities worldwide that produce the material.
The rainbow Obsidian from the site particularly is normally sold cut and polished to show off the colours; the same is true for the golden sheen Obsidian. Small offcuts and some pieces of black Obsidian are sometimes sold as specimens though.
