The Judith River Formation (JRF from now on) is a member of the Judith River Group, which also comprises several other formations:

  • Foremost formation (Alberta, Canada)
  • Oldman formation (Alberta, Canada)
  • Dinosaur park formation (Alberta, Canada)

The formation dates to the late Cretaceous, between 79 and 75.3 million years ago.

It produces fossils of various species including amphibians, bony fish, cartilagionous fish, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, crocodilians, lizards, turtles, and various genus of dinosaur.

The dinosaur fossils from the site are probably the most famous and the most studied, and include tyrannosaurs, dromaeosaurs, and dozens of others.

Wikipedia has a good writeup on species from the formation, although a dedicated book or whitepaper would likely be a better source.
