El Choique mine
Pehuenches Department, Neuquén Province, Argentina
El Choique mine is set on the northeastern side of the Neuquén basin, and produces the somewhat controversial ‘pink Amethyst’ geodes.

It is difficult to find information about this locale – the aerial images seem to indicate it is a system of dried up riverbeds, but there does appear to be an underground entrance.
Choique is a patagonian word for the rhea, a large herbiverous bird similar to an ostrich, which are found around the area.
