Quartz points with Goethite phantom
I love these, and I'm generally just quite a big fan of inclusions in general.
Think of the Quartz like a tree, growing outwards, slowly, layer by layer. At one point in the growth cycle, this piece of Quartz had goethite crystals form on the surface before the next layer of Quartz formed.
This created what is known as a 'phantom'; inclusions in the original shape of the crystal but floating in the middle. When a mineral (or anything else) is suspended inside a crystal, we call it an 'inclusion' - the key difference here is that the inclusions are formed in the shape of the Quartz crystal as it once was.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 63.5x32.9x31.3MM - a nice enough piece with lots going on, and phantoms in several of its points/terminations. It is, however, quite milky and comes from an unknown locale.
