Peridot and Olivine specimens on matrix

Green Peridot and Olivine specimens on matrix, typically a grey basalt rock backing stone.

Peridot is also sometimes known as Olivine. It occurs only in a nice green colour, and is often used as a gemstone. The crystals on these specimens are, of course, not large enough for any gem usage.

These pieces are quite fragile. Because the crystals are sitting on the matrix they could be easily dislodged in the postage - so we pad them as well as possible, however, it is entirely possible some will separate during shipping. We use a thick layer of tissue for padding; cotton wool might be better but unfortunately it has a tendency to leave fibres amongst the crystals.
