Eurypterid fossils
Eurypterids, often known as sea scorpions, are a group of extinct arthropods that lived between 488 and 251 million years ago.
They are rarely fossilised, found in Scotland, Ukraine, and the United States - they are actually the state fossil of New York state.
Fragmentary specimens from Ukraine can be found online at a reasonable cost; the US specimens tend to be more uncommon although more complete.
The Scottish pieces are now very hard to come by, as collection is no longer allowed at the location.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 108.6x89.1x22.5MM - From Dunside Reservoir, Lesmahagow, Scotland. Collection is no longer allowed at this site as it is a SSSI (this piece is from an older collection). It is incomplete, missing the tail and head, and one of the smaller specimens you'll find from this locale.
