Coquimbite specimens

Coquimbite is a unusual green to purple mineral, often found in granular form.

Coquimbite is named after the province of Coquimbo in Chile, where it was first described in 1841. It is also found in other parts of the world, including the United States, Mexico, Europe, and Australia.

Coquimbite is typically found in crusty or powdery deposits that form on the surfaces of rocks and minerals.

Coquimbite is a soft mineral, and is soluble in water and should not be stored in humid areas. It is fragile and will likely effervesce on contact with oxygen, so ideally it should be stored in a sealed case.
