Belemnite fragments
These fragments come from the fossilized remains of belemnites, ancient marine creatures similar to squids.
Specifically, these come from the 'rostrum', or 'nosecone' of the animal, a bit like a hard beak/nose.
These pieces are often found in Jurassic and Cretaceous areas, a very common fossil whose species lived for around 135 million years.
These are sold in fifty gram bags and really are nothing special - in fact, I only recommend them as part of an activity with kids - like burying and 'excavating' some low grade fossils, or seeding a gravel patch to have a look through.
They are all from the UK, typically picked up by me in various streams, gravel beds, or along beaches.
