Craigahulliar Quarry
Portrush, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK
A former basalt quarry with areas of mineralisation. The site is now a landfill site.
Showing the single result
The site is part of a geological ASSI (areas of special scientific interest). The features were the result of volcanic activity around 60 million years ago.
Some unusual zeolite minerals are found at the site, as well as columnar basalt. A lignite bed at the site was fossiliferous.
