A small area known for gemstone mining, particularly of ruby and sapphire.

It became a ruby ‘boom site’ in 2008, whether or not the site is still worked I am unsure.
There is an excellent writeup of the site and the gemstones from it in the GIA document linked below. I would highly recommend reading it – it covers everything in far more detail than I ever could.
