Theta Mine

Pilgrim’s Rest, Thaba Chweu Local Municipality, Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Historic gold mine – unfortunately, very difficult to find information on.

This is unfortunately a tricky mine to research.

Mindat suggests it works the Theta Reefs, which is presumably where the mine gets its name from. Unfortunately, this is also possibly the source of the name for Theta Gold Mines, a large Australian gold mining concern working in South Africa.

It is possible the Theta Mine is worked as part of Theta Gold Mines but I just don’t know. The Mindat page even struggles with the locale for this mine unfortunately.
