Moctezuma Mine

Moctezuma, Moctezuma Municipality, Sonora, Mexico

Moctezuma Mine is a gold-tellurium mine, famous for interesting mineralisation.

Mindat lists 88 mineral species from the site, including 21 species for which it is the type locality. These are primarily secondary tellurium minerals, which may be of interest to some collectors, being a very rare series of minerals.

The site may also be known as Bambolla Mine / Mina la Bambolla. I suspect Mindat uses the Moctezuma Mine to avoid confusion with the Bambollita Mine, around half a mile down the hill from the Bambolla Mine.

I wasn’t able to find too much information on this site, unfortunately – perhaps due to my lack of Spanish language.
