Urucum claim

Barra do Cuieté, Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais, Brazil

A granite pegmatite exploited for gemstones and mineral specimens.

Mindat lists a range of interesting minerals from this locale, including one for which it is the type locality – coutinhoite.

Beryl, kunzite, garnet, and tourmaline group minerals are found at the site – along with various radioactive minerals – coutinhoite, uranocircite, weeksite.

The site may be known by a few names:

  • Córrego do Urucum pegmatite
  • Tim claim
  • Tim mine
  • Urucum Mine

It appears Urucum is the latest name used.
